HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — A wildfire near Lewis Ocean Bay Heritage Preserve is fully contained.
The South Carolina Forestry Commission (SCFC) reported the fire’s size at 300 acres as of 8:38 p.m.
The site, located near Old Highway 90 and Edge Road, is 100% contained, according to the South Carolina Forestry Service.
Multiple crews remain on the scene and will be there throughout the night.
About 20 structures were evacuated earlier in the afternoon Saturday out of caution.
International Drive will be closed to traffic beginning at approximately 7:20 p.m. Saturday and lasting until further notice, county officials say, as crews are utilizing the roadway from the schools to Highway 90 in its emergency response to the Carolina Forest wildfire.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission, North Myrtle Beach Fire and Horry County police assisted in the response.
People may see smoke for an extended amount of time.
