ATP Marseille Quarterfinal Predictions Including Medvedev vs Struff

ATP Marseille Quarterfinal Predictions Including Medvedev vs Struff

Eight players remain in contention for the 2025 ATP Open 13 Provence title in Marseille. Defending champion Ugo Humbert is battling some physical issues, while top-seeded Daniil Medvedev, who claimed this trophy back in 2021, is seeking a confidence-building run after a few disappointing events. Who do you think will make the semifinals?

ATP Marseille Quarterfinal Predictions

Hamad Medjedovic vs Daniel Altmaier

Head-to-head: First meeting

Daniel Altmaier typically isn’t perceived as an indoor specialist, but the slow conditions in Marseille and Rotterdam have suited him well the last two weeks. Even someone with crazy power like Hamad Medjedovic didn’t have an easy time getting through the court when he played Karen Khachanov in the second round, but he was able to return well at the deep middle position and be more consistent than his opponent. Here he’ll need to keep his errors in check while being more aggressive. A good serving performance would help.
Prediction: Medjedovic in 3

Lorenzo Sonego vs Ugo Humbert

Head-to-head: 3-3

Ugo Humbert wasn’t feeling too good during his second-round clash against Alexander Bublik, suffering from gastroenteritis. The Frenchman might be able to recover after getting a day off, but we can’t know what his physical state will be exactly. Maybe that’s a strong opportunity for Lorenzo Sonego to take this match. The 3-3 head-to-head isn’t as pleasant for him when you consider that he’s 0-2 on hard courts and 3-1 on Humbert’s weakest surface (clay), but the margins are slim and even a slight advantage like that could help.

Zizou Bergs vs Zhizhen Zhang

Head-to-head: Bergs 2-1

Zhizhen Zhang typically doesn’t enjoy playing indoors, but slower courts are perfectly fine for him as he’s got more time to set up and has that overwhelming power to hit through any conditions. He also made the quarterfinals in Marseille last year before losing to Karen Khachanov. Zizou Bergs will need to pressure him early and try to move forward, otherwise Zhang might blast him off the court. It’s a slow indoor court, but maybe it’s slick enough for the Belgian to achieve these goals.
Prediction: Bergs in 3

Daniil Medvedev vs Jan-Lennard Struff

Head-to-head: Medvedev 7-2

Daniil Medvedev is playing his first ATP 250 event since June 2023 and could really use a confidence boost right now. Pierre-Hugues Herbert’s ground game wasn’t good enough to trouble him anymore, but Jan-Lennard Struff has a few more tools in his box. On hard courts, the German hasn’t beaten Medvedev since 2016. Plenty of their matches have been pretty close though and if he can serve well and rush the net, this might get pretty exciting. Still, the top seed needs wins and some rhythm, he should be very determined here.
Prediction: Medvedev in 2
