Movie fanatics wait all year for this weekend, as film and TV’s best descend upon Dolby Theater in Hollywood for the most prestigious night in film-making. The Oscars will grace our screens on Sunday, March 2.

The award ceremony, also known as the Academy Awards, includes 24 categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Actress in a Leading Role, and Best Screenplay. Those are known as the Big Five, and are the most sought-after awards of the night.

The Brutalist, a film by Brady Corbet, is nominated for ten different Oscars.

The Brutalist is a period-drama that follows the story of a European architect who journeys to America to rebuild his life, marriage, and career following World War II. It follows the story of László Tóth (Adrien Brody), a Hungarian-Jewish holocaust survivor in his pursuit of the American Dream. Tóth settles in Pennsylvania, where his talents are recognized by a wealthy businessman.

The Brutalist debuted in theaters in December 2024, where it has grossed more $35 million globally, according to Collider.

What awards is The Brutalist nominated for at the Oscars? 

The Brutalist joins Wicked for the second-highest number of Oscar nominations this weekend. The two were second only to French musical Emilia Pérez. Here’s a look at all of the categories The Brutalist is nominated for:

  • Best Achievement for Directing, Brady Corbet 
  • Best Actor in a Leading Role, Adrien Brody
  • Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Guy Pearce
  • Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Felicity Jones

  • Best Original Score, Daniel Blumberg

What awards has The Brutalist won? 

The Brutalist has already notched quite the awards show resume. The film was nominated for nine total Britsh Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards. Adrien Brody walked away with the BAFTA for Best Leading Actor, while Daniel Blumberg received Best Original Score, and Lol Crawley won Best Cinematography, and Brady Corbet took home the award for Best Director.

The film was also nominated for nine Critics’ Choice Awards. It walked away with just one, Best Actor.

The Brutalist also received seven Golden Glove nominations, taking home Best Motion Picture (Drama), Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama), and Best Director.
