Lauren Burnham Had a Chemical Pregnancy Before Getting Pregnant Again

Lauren Burnham is opening up about a difficult experience she went through before discovering she is pregnant again.

On Monday, March 10, Burnham, 33, and husband Arie Luyendyk Jr., 43, shared that they are expecting their fourth baby together in a post on Instagram. The couple also shared a video to their joint YouTube channel where they went through their experience getting pregnant again after Luyendyk Jr. decided to reverse his vasectomy.

In the video, Burnham explained that their road to pregnancy was actually harder than it appeared, and noted that although they just announced Luyendyk Jr.’s vasectomy reversal, it occurred this past summer.

“In our last video, you guys may have noticed that that vasectomy reversal was last summer,” says Luyendyk Jr.

“Yes, it was last year,” adds Lauren.

Luyendyk Jr. goes on to say that a lot has happened since then, with Lauren revealing that the couple went through a chemical pregnancy.

“We tried and tried,” Lauren admits, laughing. “And we were unsuccessful for a little bit and then we had a chemical pregnancy. I’ve never had a chemical pregnancy before, so I thought that was it. Like we were actually pregnant.”

“And I surprised Arie for the first time ever, because that was his one request for our last pregnancy was that I surprise him in a cute way because I always just tell him immediately because I can’t keep secrets,” she continues.

Lauren made banana bread and put a sign out that read, “This ain’t the only bun in the oven,” but Arie says “that one didn’t work out for us.” 

“A few days later, that was over, and it was sad,” Lauren says. “It set us back a little bit. So we took a break,” Arie explains. 

“We took a month off, reset and then we were ready to go the next month,” adds Lauren.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, a chemical pregnancy is a pregnancy loss that happens before the fifth week.

In March, Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren shared on Instagram that they are expecting their fourth baby together. In the sweet photos taken by Jennifer Perkins Popovich, Arie and Lauren pose on the beach with their 4-year-old daughter Alessi and 2-year-old twins Senna and Lux, holding up a series of sonogram images.

“Our last missing piece…coming this september👶🏼🤍,” they wrote in the caption of their joint post.
