A WJZ First Alert remains in effect due to the potential for strong storms that may produce heavy rain into early on Monday morning.

Sunday was mainly dry until the evening hours when showers and a few storms began to move through. Outside of storms, gusty winds picked up through the day, eventually, some areas saw gusts over 40 mph on Sunday.

Looking ahead to the upcoming week, the rain clears out early Monday morning. We’ll start the day on Monday with cloud cover but clearing skies are expected as the day progresses. Breezy conditions will persist even after the showers and storms exit the coast overnight, making for a blustery St. Patrick’s Day across the region. Monday afternoon highs will reach the mid to upper 50s, with some locations approaching 60 degrees.

Temperatures will cool into the upper 30s Monday night. Temperatures recover from the brief cooldown pretty quickly on Tuesday. Expect plenty of sunshine on Tuesday, with highs reaching the mid to upper 60s and Wednesday afternoon highs potentially climbing into the lower 70s.

The next cold front arrives on Thursday, bringing a chance for showers and possibly a thunderstorm later in the day. The system will quickly exit the area by Friday, leaving cooler temperatures in the 50s and gusty northwest winds.
