During its Monday triple-header, which was the best day in league history, TGL made one subtle change that had a major effect on the broadcast.
Fans watching on television noticed the flag on the rotating green looked a bit different, and that’s because it was. There was a SmartPin camera in the flagstick. It gave a never-before-scene angle of watching a ball go to the hole. It was a small tweak like aided tremendously to the broadcast.
As you can see below, it’s another new and innovative camera angle that added great perspective for fans watching at home.
Numerous fans chimed in on social media about the camera, and all of the reviews were positive. Multiple people even said they wish the PGA Tour would add a SmartPin camera to its flagsticks.
While that might not be as feasible, it would be something cool to see on at least one hole at an upcoming professional golf event. Imagine how cool it would look if someone made a hole-in-one or holed a shot from the fairway, let alone making a chip-in.
Kudos to TGL for continuing to improve during its inaugural season. Monday’s three matches were great because of the players, shots and fans, but the pin flag was something really small that greatly improved the broadcast.
